NEW THIS WEEK to the Radio Rumpus Room was "Rare Surf, Vol. 6: Surf
Era Rarities, Hot Rod Music and Brian Wilson Productions" from the ATM
label in Germany. (There's really no surf, but there is a bunch of fine
hot rod songs, and a bunch of pop stuff. All from the Capitol vaults. Also
new to us, an excellent compilation of instrumental music from Los
Belkings, a Peruvian band active 1966-1973.
And don't forget -- next week we drop the hammer on Radio Rumpus
Room's umpteenth annual "Hot Rods To Hell" show. In deference to the Ford
Centennial (1903-2003) this show will be Fords and nothing but Fords. Dig
it -- and dig out!
As always we say thanks to the artists and labels responsible for
producing tonight's music, and to the loyal listeners who encourage us in
their own ways to air it every week!
(For nine years now, Radio Rumpus Room has been broadcast Fridays
at 9-10:30 p.m. on KFAI Fresh Air Radio, FM 90.3 Minneapolis and 106.7 St.
Paul. The show streams live on the Internet, and as always, our two
most recent shows are archived in their entirety in RealAudio. Just
visit the RRR web page anytime it's convenient to listen to this grand
noise and catch Jean and Ron spouting their usual nonsense.)
